DWI Website awarded
The homepage of the German Wine Institute (DWI) received the Typo3 Award 2024 in the category „Sports&Culture“ on November 28th. The deutscheweine.de and winesofgermany.com websites and the DWI database had been restructured in terms of technology and content at the end of 2023.
Worldwide 'Wines of Germany' appearances
In September 2024, websites for six 'Wines of Germany' foreign markets went live in the same system: Japan, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland and the Czech Republic also present German wines with the "look and feel" of international joint marketing.
Design and structure
The websites have a fresh design and significantly improved navigation to help target groups find important information and news quickly. The appearance is complemented by fine-line visuals and icons – animations and playful elements invite discovery.
Integration of dynamic content
Technically, the websites are based on dynamic content from the DWI database Symfony, which is brought together with static content in the TYPO3 content management system. New content, especially news and images, is only created once centrally in the DWI database and is then available to all language variants.
Synergy effects
On the one hand, centralising the systems creates considerable synergy effects and, on the other hand, creates a globally uniform appearance. The main challenge was to connect the dynamic content in the DWI database with the CMS Typo3.
Some of the international pages are still under construction; the content and technical details are still being worked on in many places.
The innovative solution for websites and database was developed and implemented together with Xima Media GmbH.
