In mid-January, the Friedrich-Ebert-Foundation hosted a winegrowing policy seminar in Bad Kreuznach. Representatives from viticulture, trade, science and politics came together to discuss current challenges and future prospects for the industry. Key topics included the sales crisis, innovative marketing ideas and the use of artificial intelligence.
Expertise and enthusiasm from German Wine Ambassadors
The German Wine Queen Charlotte Weihl and the German Wine Princess Katharina Gräff contributed their expertise and enthusiasm for viticulture to the discussions. At the wine tasting, they presented successful wines from best-practice German winegrowers together with Florian Maier, Member of the State Parliament.
Katharina Gräff, who also spoke as a moderator in the “Good practice examples of innovations in wine marketing” forum, emphasized: “Creative marketing solutions can help to strengthen small businesses and open up new markets.”
Focus on innovation and collaboration
The forums that offered practical solutions to the current sales crisis attracted particular attention. The use of artificial intelligence and the importance of sustainable structures in viticulture were analyzed from various perspectives. Charlotte Weihl explained: “The dialog between science, practice and politics is essential in order to develop sustainable concepts for viticulture.”
