DIVINO Nordheim Thüngersheim eG

It was in 2003, at the inauguration of the Vinothek, that the experts went into raptures. There was talk of a "jewel" and of "one of the first addresses when it comes to Franconian wine". Nothing has changed since then. From the very beginning, the DIVINO wine shop in Nordheim in Lower Franconia was and is more than just a wine outlet, but a wine experience world with an unmistakable feel-good ambience.

An open, bright building with flowing transitions from the inside to the outside, generously designed with glass, natural stones and fine wood on more than 1,000 square meters, with cozy corners to linger, in short with a concept that combines excellent wines with a Mediterranean attitude to life. The catchy motto: "Life in the wine sound".

Thus, the Vinothek, which is visible from afar with its large logo above the entrance high up on the wall of the building, is a place where guests can approach wine in completely new ways, not least at the aroma counter, where scents dominate the senses. In the wine bistro "Vinotheria" in the inner courtyard, small delicacies are on offer, with food ranging from vegetable potato chips to accompany the wine, through regional, artisan cheese specialties and hearty vesper platters, to Mediterranean-style panini and fresh cakes.

The wine selection consists primarily of four different brands. Sparkling, uncomplicated and youthful wines with a light-hearted and easy wine enjoyment ("Juventa") can be found as well as site wines with a distinctive terroir character of the classic Franconian grape varieties ("Franconia") and wines with an international style that meets the highest demands, such as the red wines with years of barrique aging ("Divino Großes Gewächs").

Special, unusual sites or vinification methods, such as the spontaneously fermented Silvaner, characterize the "Character F" series. Here, cellar master Ernst Braun and wine consultant Paul Glaser use special vinification methods to ensure that the wines develop their own flavor and individual aromas and fragrances.  The long list of awards ranges from first place in the selection of the trade magazine "Selection" as best winemaker in 2012 to Franconia's best cooperative in 2011 and 2013 to the four-time Best of Gold winner of the Franconian Winegrowers' Association, most recently in 2016.

Seminar and conference rooms, the quiet open-air winegrowers' courtyard, the lavishly renovated Zehnthofkapelle - a rediscovered art-historical rococo gem with frescoes by Andreas Dahlweiner dating from 1755 that are well worth seeing - as well as numerous events such as the art exhibitions held four times a year, classical music concerts or cabaret evenings make a visit a special day out. A day in the sound of wine.
